About the Department
 

The Department of Mechanical and Engineering was established in the year 2008. This Department has all the required staff and infrastructure necessary to carve a successful Mechanical Engineer of an international standard.

Vision

 

To provide quality technical education in Mechanical Engineering by creative effective teaching and learning envirinment with practical exposure, making the students industry ready or pursue higher education.

The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering are given below:

 
PEO 1 To become successful professional for middle management position in the Mechanical field.
PEO 2 To obtain competencies required to become an authorized professional in Mechanical Engineering like service engineer, supervisor etc.
PEO 3 To obtain the learning skills to keep abreast with rapidly changing technologies and thus continuing Life long learning.
PEO 4 To be able to work effectively individually as well as in teams and effectively communicate in their work place.
PEO 5 To be able to pursue higher education in the relevant field of study.
 

The Program Outcomeses (POs) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering are given below:

 
PO 1 Basic and Discipline specific knowledge: Apply knowledge of basic mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the engineering problems..
PO 2 Problem analysis: Identify and analyse well-defined engineering problems using codified standard methods.
PO 3 Design/ development of solutions : Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.
PO 4 Engineering Tools, Experimentation and Testing:Apply modern engineering tools and appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.
PO 5 Engineering practices for society, sustainability and environment:Apply appropriate technology in context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.
PO 6 Project Management:Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities.
PO 7 Life-long learning:Ability to analyse individual needs and engage in updating in the context of technological changes.
 
PSO1 An ability to understand the concepts of basic Mechanical Engineering and to apply them to various areas like Production or Manufacturing and Thermal engineering and auxiliary field viz.,solid mechanics and hydraulics.
PSO2 An ability to solve complex Mechanicl Engineering problems,using latest hardware and software tools,along with analytical skills to arrive cost effictive and apptopriate solutions.
PSO3 Students will learn to communicate their ideas to be effective in collaboration with industry inculcating team work

  • Mechanical Workshop is established to carry out the activities of Fitting, Carpentry, Smithy and Forging along with welding. Foundry can be done by Induction furnace and Cupola.

  • Thermal Engineering Lab is equipped with IC engines of four stroke SI and CI engines to study the characteristics and heat balance of Engines.

  • The Lab is equipped with Able’s, Cleveland and Martin’s open cup to determine the Flash and Fire points of fuel and Viscometers to know the viscosity of lubricant and Bomb and Junkers Calorimeters to calculate the Calorific value of solid and gas.
